Meet the Maker: Lee of Mae’s Landing

At The Mini Style Post, we are endlessly inspired by artists who bring warmth, intention, and magic into childhood and today, we’re thrilled to introduce you to one of our favorites: Lee, the heart and hands behind Mae’s Landing.

Hello! I am Lee, the creator behind Mae’s Landing. I’m a hand-sewing natural fiber artist, toy designer and maker, a photographer in a past life, and—most proudly—a mother. Recently, my family and I moved to the top of a mountain in rural Vermont, where we spend our days slow living and homeschooling our four daughters. Life here is simple, intentional, and filled with the rhythm of the seasons—exactly the environment that fuels my creativity.

My journey began when my first daughter (now 12) turned one. That’s when I discovered the beautiful world of Waldorf education. I started crafting with wool felt and recycled wool sweaters from our local thrift store, creating toys from natural materials that felt warm, meaningful, and magical. I fell instantly in love—with the materials, with the act of making, and with the heartfelt traditions woven into the Waldorf way of celebrating the seasons.

What began as small handmade toys for my daughter soon blossomed into something more. Over the following year, my craft expanded, and Mae’s Landing was born. Since then, creating seasonal treasures you can cherish year after year has become my passion. I adore celebrating birthdays and helping families make them as magical as possible—handmade crowns, birthday numbers, and special keepsakes have all become part of Mae’s Landing’s world.

In addition to shop updates, I recently started offering sewing patterns, opening the door for others to create their own heirloom pieces at home. Nature—and its ever-changing seasons—continues to guide my work. Much of my inspiration also comes from our beloved vintage children’s book collection, but most of all, from my daughters and the wonder, curiosity, and magic they bring to each day.
