Some toys are just toys. And then there’s House Humbaba. Founded by Beirut-based designer Davina Atallah and her partner Areej Mahmoud, this slow independent design studio makes playful objects for curious minds, and their debut line, Body Blocks, is one of those rare finds that works as a toy, a conversation starter, and a piece of design all at once.

The brand made its debut at Milan Design Week 2025 and has since been featured in Dezeen, Vanity Fair, and the FT Holiday Gift Guide. Safe to say, the world has taken notice.

What Are Body Blocks?

Body Blocks are modular wooden stacking pieces shaped like human forms. Each set is designed to be mixed, matched, and assembled into an endless range of characters, celebrating the idea that bodies come in every shape, size, and form. They are handcrafted in numbered batches, making each set collectible as much as it is playable.

The sets range from smaller curated collections to larger builds with hundreds of possible character combinations.

Why We Love It

Body Blocks are the kind of toy you genuinely want displayed in your home. They teach kids about diversity, inclusion, and body positivity through play, without a single word of instruction needed. As a slow design brand rooted in conscious making, House Humbaba creates objects meant to be loved and passed down, not discarded.
