Studio Rosie | Frog and Toad Party

The timeless Frog and Toad books have always held a special place in our family. This past summer, our children performed in A Year with Frog and Toad, the musical - bringing Arnold Lobel’s beloved stories to life in the most charming way. Between the music, the nostalgic illustrations, and the arrival of autumn, it felt like the perfect moment to create a cozy Frog and Toad–inspired celebration.

The party came together with the help of dear friends and talented collaborators. My friend Callie Wartenbe of Callie Bakes created all the tea party treats, including the showstopping cake. Tracy Tester, illustrator of my book The Big Book of Fantasy Kid Crafts, painted the “Pin the Cookie on the Cookie Plate” game and designed the sweetest kite cake topper.

So many of the decorations were handmade, adding a personal and whimsical touch. I created the oversized autumn leaves, Frog and Toad finger puppets, and frog-eye headbands - little details that made the children feel as though they had stepped right into the story.

It was a celebration filled with charm, creativity, and nostalgia - a reminder of the joy in bringing favorite stories to life.
