Mini Spaces: Rebekah Sayer Interiors

A Calm, Family-Friendly Home

When interior designer Rebekah Sayer and her husband moved into their second house—just about an hour from London—their lives changed in more ways than one. Not long after unpacking, they discovered they were expecting their first child, Esther.

Leaving her London job behind, Rebekah embraced life closer to nature and found it reawakened her love of architecture, paint colors, and beautiful craftsmanship. Over time, her home has become a reflection of those passions—a soothing, family-friendly space designed for both children and calm.

With her children (now aged 8, 4 and 3) and a busy husband running his own business, the rhythm of family life is lively, but Rebekah has a clear intention. She’s dedicated to creating a home that is warm, welcoming and purposeful—a place where calm can always return after a busy day.

The Style Story: Soft, Light, and Liveable

From the start, Rebekah set the tone: soft, light, liveable. The palette is muted and gentle, with organic forms and characterful objects made to last. Here are a few of her favorite touches:

  • The cosiest rug in the house lies in the children’s bedroom: a luxurious, sustainably sourced sheepskin from Skye Skynes, a family business on the Isle of Skye that also offers a fascinating visitor experience in traditional leather-making.

  • Textiles play a starring role in layering warmth and texture. From artisan brand TOAST, Rebekah selected quilted bedspreads, velvet throws, and linen cushions in gentle, earthy tones—perfect for creating a tactile, family-friendly atmosphere.

  • Rebekah’s favorite piece is a handmade lino print, Autumn Beech Leaf, by Irish artist Jo Anne Butler of Superfolk. Printed on Japanese washi paper, it adds just the right touch of seasonal color and connection to nature.

  • Oak herringbone runs throughout the downstairs spaces, offering durability and warmth underfoot. Natural-fibre rugs—like seagrass and jute—define zones within the open-plan layout. One custom seagrass rug by Jessica Outred of Seagrass Story complements their vintage oak dining table beautifully.

A Few Special Corners

In the children’s bedroom, Rebekah and her husband created a sweet mini-bedside nook in an alcove—already a feature in itself—where they plan to add curtains to the bunk beds for a cocooning, cosy effect. This is exactly the kind of detail that underscores their home: warm, functional, and layered with thought.

For Rebekah, building this home has been a journey. It’s not about everything being perfect or done-it’s about intention, layering, texture, and a sense of calm amid family life. She’s found that soft, light foundations paired with organic materials, artisan details and a few thoughtful injections of colour through art and textiles make all the difference.
